hosted by St Mary’s Church, Twyford and organised by Valerie Roberts.
A big THANK YOU to the many local village businesses and organisations, who contributed their time, talent and flowers to this event which ran over the weekend of the 15/16th June 2019. Over £2,000 was raised in donations and subscriptions, and this money went towards the Bell’s Appeal currently running to refurbish the bells so they are in good ringing order for the 21st Century. We are very fortunate to have a ring of 8 bells and have already had 2 generous offers to fund 2 new bells of the 3 needed to create a perfectly balanced peal.We are also keen to keep the bells ringing by encouraging people to come along and learn to ring.
A big THANK YOU to those who came along to support this event – If you are interested in developing a new hobby (anyone is welcome) or making a donation (there are leaflets with more details currently circulating), please contact Angela Forder-Stent our Bell Captain.
A big THANK YOU to John Hawkins who took the pictures of arrangements which are free to use and can be down-loaded from this link.
A big THANK YOU goes to Valerie Roberts to all her work organising and publicizing this event and to Maggie Lippiett and helpers for their work on refreshments and we hope to be able to organise another FUN Flower Festival in 2021.
In the mean time there will be a sponsored walk between St Andrews Church Owslebury and St Mary’s Church Twyford (where you will be welcomed with mulled wine and mince pies) on Sunday 29th December at 2pm when there will be church bell ringing at both churches to welcome the New Year in 2 days time (and encourage the walkers). Further details to follow.
