Full Fibre Broadband

Full Fibre Broadband can be available to Twyford homes and businesses!

Rural communities, just like Twyford, across the country are benefitting from full fibre broadband through the Gigabit Broadband voucher scheme.

Openreach has now confirmed the cost of implementing a scheme in parts of Twyford which covers properties in the shaded area shown below (click on map for a bigger image):

If you are interested in bringing super reliable full fibre broadband to Twyford, then please submit your details below.

There is absolutely no obligation at this stage, we just need indicative numbers of households to be able to take this application to the next stage. Twyford Parish Council will retain your details only for as long as necessary to identify if the scheme will be viable.

Twyford Parish Council is seeking to establish where there is interest from residents and business owners to bring Gigabit Broadband, (also known as Fibre To The Premises FTTP, or Full Fibre) to Twyford.

Full Fibre broadband can deliver speeds of up to 1000Mbps (megabits per second) compared to currently a maximum of up to about 80Mbps for those who live in the centre of the village.  Importantly, Full Fibre speeds are not affected by the distance you are from the telephone exchange or street cabinet. That means even the most remote properties that can be connected to Full Fibre will always get the full speed.

If there is sufficient interest in Twyford, then using the Government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, due to launch again on 8th April, the necessary infrastructure can be installed to enable homes and businesses to sign up with a provider of Full Fibre broadband.

The Government will provide a ‘voucher’ worth up to £1,500 for each residential household and up to £3,500 for businesses to help telecom companies install the fibre infrastructure. We expect the same level of funding to apply when the scheme re-opens on 8th April.

In addition to Government funding, Hampshire County Council is providing “top up” funding so that the vouchers will be worth up to £3,000 for each residential property.

In Twyford’s case the fibre infrastructure will be provided by BT Openreach. We are collecting information on how many properties are interested in full fibre broadband, so that Openreach can provide us a quotation for the work.

If you are interested in full fibre broadband then please complete the form on the Parish Council’s webpage at www.twyfordhants.org.uk/full-fibre-broadband

There is absolutely no obligation at this stage, we just need indicative numbers of households to be able to take this application to the next stage. Progression of the scheme will depend on its viability and this means having interest from a minimum number of households or businesses.

Key benefits of Full Fibre broadband

    • Life in the fast lane – Full fibre offers speeds up to 1000Mbps vs up to 80Mbps currently for central residents only
    • Future proof – Fibre infrastructure is always being pushed further and faster! No need to rip and replace
    • Not distance dependant – The speeds obtainable are NOT affected by your phone line length – even the most remote properties can get the full speed
    • Cost saving – Some providers are offering higher speeds at a lower price than currently paid!
    • Resilient – Fibre infrastructure is not affected by water, the wrong type of snow or ‘leaves on the line’
