The Twyford Community Centre (TCC) continues to go from strength to strength, with a fantastic volunteer team to serve the needs of our whole community, young and old. We would like to thank everyone who have supported us in so many ways. We welcome new volunteers to help us with maintenance, carpentry and repairs to brickwork, painting and minor repairs.
This is your centre and it needs your help and support. TCC is not a club and has no membership fees.
We have had many bookings for parties, wakes, meetings, demonstrations, skittles, cake sales and the like.
We will continue to show major sporting events, when we can, as these seem very popular.
Current Activities:
We have a Jazz Session on the first Monday of the month, our popular Tea on Tuesdays for retirees, Art classes on Wednesdays, afternoon film on 1st and 3rd Thursdays and evening films on 2nd and 4th Thursdays. The last Thursday of the month has an afternoon French Conversation meeting and Fridays have a morning Singing Group, an afternoon Bridge Group and an evening Games Night, with snooker, table tennis, darts and lots of board games.
Importantly many of these activities provide a lifeline for the elderly, infirm, bereaved and often housebound – a safe haven where they can meet, if only once or twice a week.
There are also dance classes, chair yoga, Zumba and keep fit classes, run by different organisations.
Future Activities:
There is a lack of provision in the village for young people.
We have a lot of established users and it’s good to see that we are starting to get new young people showing an interest in some ideas for the future
Holding an event?
The building is a comfortable environment for social activities, with a capacity for holding up to 150 people (120 seated) there is a skittle alley, snooker table, dart board and table tennis table.
We have an alcohol licence and our bar is open for many of our own activities and can also be used for private functions. The kitchen facilities are minimal at the moment, but work is currently underway to provide a bigger kitchen for functions.
