Update on Planning Applications

The Parish Council has recently summitted its comments in relation to two large planning applications that are currently under consideration by the South Downs National Park Authority. The Parish Council has asked for both applications to extend the deadline for public comments and these extensions have been agreed. Please do take the time to look at the planning documents and make your own comments.

Hockley Golf Club – SDNP/23/02125/FUL
Development of a sustainable irrigation system, including water storage pond; enhancement to driving range practice facility.

The  Parish Council objects to the application as;

1 it will cause harm to the natural beauty of the South Downs National Park,
2. it proposes waste disposal in the National Park contrary to Policy 4 of the Minerals and Waste local plan,
3. it is contrary to policies SDNPA 25 and TNP SB 2 and Minerals and Waste local Plan Policy 30 in that it has not shown exceptional circumstances why this proposal for development in the countryside should be permitted,
4. it will cause harm to the village by the additional heavy HGV lorry traffic (due to the importing of 140,000 cubic metres of of spoil to the site)
5. it fails to make provision for non-car use.

Read the full representation that the Council has made.   The SDNPA will accept additional comments until 17th August 2023.

Land North of Hazeley Road – SDNP/23/02340/FUL
The erection of twenty residential dwellings with associated pedestrian and vehicle access from Hazeley Road, landscaping and parking.

Thank you to everyone who attend the drop in session held at the Parish Hall in July. We have forwarded all the feedback received to the planners.

The Council broadly supports the principle application as it is in general conformity with the Twyford Neighbourhood Plan. However, the application itself is lacking detailed information on traffic studies, flooding and the approach to sustainability is unclear.
Once information on these matters is received the Council will be in a position to make a fuller response. Therefore it requests an extension to the published Expiry Date deadline for the making of all representations until sometime in September.

The SDNPA will accept additional comments until 14th September 2023.
